MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- Marshfield's Braem Park is in need of a major make-over, and Parks and Rec. Director Justin Casperson says later this week residents can have input on a master plan for the popular park.

"The goal is to open that communication line with residents to come out and view the plans, talk to the firm that we retained, and kind of give their opinions.  And really we want the community to get out and just talk and be involved," according to Casperson.

"We retained the services of CBS2 which is an architectural-engineering firm," Capserson explained,  "and at this meeting they're going to present their findings, a capitol improvement schedule and cost estimates, as well as a master plan for the park."

The park's tennis courts, parking lot, and softball field are just a few of the amenities that need attention, and Casperson says a master plan will ensure improvements be made in a coordinated fashion over the next decade as budgets allow.  "The master plan kind of gives us a road map so over the next ten years we can make improvements that make sense for the community."

Also being studied for that plan: the posible addition of more walking trails, the management of endangered ash trees, and the proper maintenance of two creeks on the property.

That open house meeting is scheduled for this coming Thursday, Dec. 13, from 4-6 p.m., at the 2nd Street Community Center in Marshfield.
