Watch System of a Down's Daron Malakian talk approach to guitar playing in new "String Theory" episode

System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian guests on the new episode of String Theory , a web series produced by guitar string company Ernie Ball. You can watch the 19-minute video now on YouTube .

In the episode, Malakian say he originally wanted to play drums when he was a kid, but his parents bought him a guitar instead after realizing they "couldn't turn off the drums." He also talks about his style and approach to playing guitar while playing the riffs from System songs including "Aerials," "Toxicity" and "Chop Suey."

"I don't think I picked music, music picked me," Malakian says. "I don't know where I'd be without it, it's always been apart of my identity."

Earlier this year, Malakian released a new album called  Dictator with his Scars on Broadway project.
