Stone Temple Pilots covered Led Zepplin's 1973 song "Dancing Days" in 1995 for Encomium: A Tribute to Led Zepplin. STP never officially released it as a single, but radio played it anyway and it reached #63 on the Hot 100 Airplay, #3 on the Album Rock Tracks, and #11 on the Modern Rock Tracks charts.
The original song was inspired by the music Jimmy Page and Robert Plant heard during a trip to Bombay. The band was so excited about the song they ran out onto the front lawn of the studio and danced to it, which inspired the title of the song and lyric.
