Can you believe "The Princess Bride" entertained us for the first time 33 years ago? We fell in love with the characters Westley and Buttercup played by Cary Elwes and Robin Wright back in 1987. The movie has stood the test of time. Entertaining generation after generation with love, laughter, and adventure.
Several years ago I got a chance to talk to Elwes about his book "As You Wish: Inconceivable Tails from the Making of The Princess Bride," which you can hear
here
. In the interview you can hear some of the stories revealed in the book like the time Andre The Giant insisted Elwes take his ATV for a spin and it didn't work out so well for the lead actor.
In 2019, some rumors started swirling about the possibility of a remake to which Elwes responded via tweet, "There's a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one."
I completely agree with Elwes. That's why I am so happy to hear the announcment Wright and Elwes just made on disneyplus Instagram. The two got together on a video call to announce that May 1st "The Princess Bride" will be streaming on Disney+!! I can't wait to watch it with my kids.
