After every episode of Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare, I think two things.
1) "I need a beer."
2) "Man, I wish I would have had time to play [INSERT SONG HERE]"
There's a lot of great metal out there. However, I only get 3 hours to play as much of it as I can for you every Saturday Night.
So, welcome to the 4th Hour. This is where I post stuff that I wish I would have had time to play for you on last weekend's show.
We'll start with...
Bring Me the Horizon - "Shadow Moses"
Catchy as hell. Oh, and in case you were wondering, "sempiternal" means "eternal and unchanging, everlasting". These guys are on Epitaph Records, home to mucho other kick ass bands like...
Off With Their Heads - "Nightlife"
These guys are definitely more punk than metal. While we do play some punk on the Nightmare, these guys may have more of a home on Rock 94.7's new music show, The Buzz (heard every Sunday from 9pm to Midnight CST).
Now, I'm cheating a bit here. I actually played a song by these guys last weekend, but I'd play the whole album if it wouldn't be so unfair to all the other bands:
Lightning Swords of Death - "Baphometic Chaosium"
As much as that first song sold me on LSOD, this next song is the one that sealed the deal. The guitars sound like an army of angry Satanic bees:
Also the name "Lightning Swords of Death" sounds like a weapon that one of my Dungeons and Dragons characters died at the hands of.
Of course, new songs aren't only ones I regret not being able to squeeze in every weekend.
One old-school cut that I keep meaning to get to is by these guys:
Mordred - "Falling Away"
Mordred was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of their time. Pick up the "In This Life" album. Worth the bucks.
That's all for this 4th hour. Tune in next time for more stuff that I'd play if Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare was an hour longer.
Be Metal,
~ST
