by Craig Holgate

Well here is a first coming up in January (Sat 1/11), at the Boulder Lake Recreation Area just outside of Duluth. Fat Tire Bikes against Skinny Cross Country Skis. Racers can sign up now for just 35 dollars and they are also looking for volunteers. Check out the Fat vs. Skinny Website or follow them on Facebook here.

Ramjet events presents the inaugural Fat Bike Versus Skinny Ski race, set for Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Minnesota power/Boulder Lake recreation area.

There is no other challenge like this in the WORLD," Said Tim hagley, Race director for ramjet events.  "Duluth prides itself on its skiing and biking connections and we've decided to put them together and lay down the gauntlet for bragging rights!"

In classic 20k pursuit race format, Cross country skiers will be chasing down Fat tire (or mountain) bikers.  The goal is to strategically time it so the top athletes finish at the same time. This pursuit format promises to make this a duel to the end!!

The race takes place on Boulder Lake, 20 miles north of Duluth.  The group (BIKERS OR SKIERS) with fastest average time of the top 10 finishers will be the winner. Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 overall athletes in each race and the winning group of athletes will receive a free Brewhouse Ale.  All athletes will receive free chili at the Island Lake Inn immediately following the race along with a chance to win great door prizes.

“I'm a biker and a skier, so it will be a blast to see who comes out ahead, fat bikes or the skis," remarked Lucas Kramer from Duluth.
