Bucks Roll The Dice

by Tom King

The Milwaukee Bucks have to get credit for thinking outside the box. Instead of trying to fill a position of need (guard) with players they weren't particularly thrilled with...they decided to think long-term in selecting  small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo from Greece. The 18 year old is known as the "Greek Freak" and despite playing a different position will probably be compared to Rickey Rubio who took years to arrive in the US. The "Freak" hadnt left Greece until just a few weeks ago when he played with the Greek National team and didnt particulary light it up playing with a second-division Greek team this past season. He averaged 9 1/2 points per game  and five rebounds and admist he hasnt played anywhere near the NBA level.

GM John Hammond would like him to learn at the NBA level and not go to the developmental league. New coach Larry Drew compares him to a young Kevin Durant. I would be happy if he turned into Toni Kukoc and not Yi Jianlian.

Rickie Weeks is smoking hot. So hot that Scooter Gennett was sent back down to AAA Nashville and Weeks was in the lead off spot yesterday. It's almost impossible to believe that a guy who was so clueless in April and May could be so good in June. Baseball is a funny game.

The Brewers took a step backwards dropping 2-3 with the Cubs...they head to Pittsburgh this weekend.

The Wausau Legion baseball team heads to Chippewa Falls for a weekend tournament. Post 10 plays the Green Bay Shockers in their first game this afternoon at 3pm. They also play at 10 & 1230 on Saturday and 530 on Sunday.

Songs of The Day  (from my I-Pod)

Luka-Suzanne Vega (1987) one of a string of female singer-songwriters that popped up in the 80's and Vega was stronger than most. A song about child abuse going to #3 on the charts?? yes indeed and she released a bunch of really good albums after that as well

Lust To Love-Go Go's (1982) from the debut Beauty & The Beat  that topped the US Charts for six weeks. They wrote their owns songs and played their own instruments. Basic catchy pop music.
