Facade Improvement Program extended in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU)  -  A popular revitalization program for Marshfield’s downtown has gotten new life with the infusion of another $30,000 in matching grants.

The “facade improvement program” helps fund the renovation of aging storefronts, and the City Council approved the extension of that program at their meeting on Tuesday night.

Director of Planning and Economic Development Jason Angell says the program was scheduled to end, “but since we ran out of funds in July we’ve had three or four property owners come to us that are seriously considering projects. One of those I would deem to be a significant project as far as size. The other two are smaller projects but I do think there would be others that are still out there.”

Marshfield’s Finance Budget and Personnel Committee OK’d the measure in early November, and the Common Council approved it at last night’s meeting on a “consent agenda” vote.

The city’s revolving loan fund will contribute $20,000 to the program, and the remaining $10,000 will come from Main Street Marshfield.
