Record Powerball jackpot of $425M on Wednesday

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - A record Powerball jackpot of $425 million is on the line for the next drawing on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, a ticket sold in Delavan won the game’s second-prize of $1 million on Saturday night. The ticket was sold at the Delavan Mobil Mart. It matched all the regular numbers, but not the Powerball.

Also, a ticket sold at Kwik Trip in La Crosse won $10,000 by matching 4 regular numbers plus the Powerball. Almost 46,000 Wisconsin players won smaller prizes – about five times the norm.

The price of Powerball tickets doubled to $2 in January. Fewer tickets have been sold, but Powerball board chairman Norm Lingle says the sales revenues have more than made up for the price hike, with the increase being around 35 percent. And as the price went up, so did the jackpots.

Saturday’s numbers were 22, 32, 37, 44, and 50. The Powerball was 34.

Wednesday’s cash option is $278 million for a single winner who chooses to take the whole prize now, instead of in 30 annual installments.

Meanwhile, a ticket sold in Hayward matched all 6 numbers to win a $350,000 Supercash jackpot on Friday night. And the Mega Millions’ jackpot is at $49 million for that game’s next drawing Tuesday night.
