WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - Road crews are expected to start work on the overhaul of the US 51/Highways U and K Interchange on Wausau's northside this week.
The $28 Million project is slated to run through November of 2014, and will require the closure of lanes for most of that time. The DOT says they'll be working to keep two lanes of traffic open in each direction during peak hours, but will have to enforce overnight closures and intermittent closure for removal of bridge structures and blasting to widen the roadway.
Of note this week will be overnight closures of lanes on US 51 to remove the County U bridge. Traffic will be detoured overnight on the ramps to and from 51.
You can get up to date information all the way through the project through the DOT's 511 system or online at http://www.511wi.gov/Web/
