MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marshfield’s Common Council gave the green light to an upscale apartment complex on Marshfield’s north side at their meeting Tuesday night. Zoning administrator Josh Miller described the project as “a five separate buildings with eight units apiece, totaling 40 units. Two of the buildings would be along McMillian Street and then the other three would be set back further. Primary access would be where the Hume Avenue right-of-way would be with an emergency access along McMillian Street.” Neighborhood homeowners had opposed the development for months over zoning concerns, but Council members like Gordie Earll said the project will benefit the community as a whole. The Council also passed a resolution supporting safety improvements in the area surrounding the apartment complex, and a conditional use permit addressing issues such as parking and landscaping. That complex will be located just east of Wal-Mart in Marshfield.
