MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- Log haulers can take advantage of Wisconsin’s Frozen Road Law in additional areas starting today. As of midnight, Zones 3 and 4 are available for truckers to haul heavier loads of timber.
All large trucks have a normal five-axle weight limit of 80-thousand pounds. When the frost hardens the roadbeds, Department of Transportation officials allow log haulers to load up to 98-thousand pounds on the 80-thousand pound licenced rigs.
A map of the Frozen Road Law zones is available at the Department of Transportation’s web site.
