TOMAHAWK, Wis. (WSAU) - A Tomahawk family’s big scare had a happy ending Tuesday. The family called police early in the morning to report their 8-year-old daughter was missing. The parents had not seen her since tucking her into bed Monday night.
Tomahawk police, fire, and EMS staff worked with Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies to conduct a ground search for the girl. A short time after the search began, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from an area resident reporting a girl was at her property, swinging on the swingset and swimming along the edge of the river.
Officers located the girl, who was unhurt. She told officers she was “going out to meet new people.” The girl was returned to her family a short time after that.
The little adventurer’s name is not being released.
