MEDFORD, Wis. (WSAU) - A Medford teenager accused of lying to police about a threat to the school will spend some time in jail.
17-year-old Denarah Kitzman will spend 30 days in jail after reaching a plea deal with prosecutors. She had been scheduled for a sentencing date July 8th but skipped the hearing. She was sentenced yesterday after being picked up on a warrant in Iron County.
Police say she left a note in the women's bathroom in February at Medford High School making a specific threat to students. More than 72 percent of the student body stayed home from school the next day. Kitzman was charged with obstructing an officer and bail jumping in the case since she was already on probation from a disorderly conduct charge earlier in the month.
As part of the plea deal, Kitzman will have to write a letter of apology and pay court fees and restitution.
