MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - The state Assembly approved a resolution that shows support for Olympic wrestling.

The International Olympic Committee recently announced the sport of wrestling was on a list for removal from the 2020 games.

Some of the state's best known wrestlers, including 1984 silver medalist Andy Rein and 1972 gold medalist Ben Peterson, was at the Assembly to show support for the bill.

The move by the IOC has prompted world-wide public disapproval, as wrestling is considered one of the oldest sports in human history.

The resolution was unanimously approved by the Assembly on Wednesday.
