Hart Comeback Delayed...Brewers In Cincinnati Tonight

MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Milwaukee Brewers’ first baseman Corey Hart might not return until after the All-Star break in mid-July. That’s what general manager Doug Melvin said in a rdio interview on Thursday.  Hart had surgery to fix problems in his right knee which acted up last winter. His return has been pushed back several times.

Once he’s ready to play, Hart is expected to get a minor league rehab assignment before returning to the big club. Hart is in the final year of his current contract with Milwaukee. The Brewers will try to improve on a weak division record tomorrow night, when the Crew opens a weekend series in Cincinnati. The Brewers are 10-and-18 against their fellow teams in the National League Central.

Milwaukee is in fourth place, a game out of last, while Cincinnati is second in the division.

Veteran right-handers Kyle Lohse and Bronson Arroyo will square off in the series opener. Lohse is 2-and-6 but has had two straight quality starts. Last Sunday, Lohse gave up just one run in eight innings in a home victory over Philadelphia.

Arroyo beat the Crew in early May. He’s 14-and-10 lifetime against Milwaukee. And he has started 27 games against the Brewers in his 14-year big league career. That’s his second-most starts against any opponent.
