WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) -  The two people charged with abusing an 8-month-old baby were in court Monday. 27-year-old Robert Winker and the child’s 20-year-old mother Kurstyn Bieneman from Racine appeared in Wood County court.

The case is in Wood County because the baby’s grandmother discovered the injuries in Nekoosa and rushed it to the hospital. Records say the baby had fractures in the ankle, ribs, legs, and wrist, plus a swollen eye, facial bruises, and blood in his ears. Both are accused of being rough on the baby.

Winker pled not guilty to four charges. Bieneman pled not guilty to five charges.

The baby is staying with a guardian, and can only see his mother through supervised visitation.

Future court dates have not yet been set.
