MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - Marshfield’s Common Council will form a special ad hoc committee to further study a proposed compensation plan city employees.
The council selected a general direction for the salary plan that would increase entry level pay by steps up to a “market pay rate,” followed by merit-based increases; but Mayor Chris Meyer says getting the plan right is so important that the formation of an ad hoc committee is necessary for ironing out the details. According to Meyer, “This is a very important item that we’re taking care of. This affects every employee.”
Recommendations from that special committee would then come back before the full council for final approval.
Officials have been studying the city’s compensation plan for more than a year.
