Brewers Start Roadtrip Tonight

CINCINNATI, OHIO (WSAU-LERAFIELD)The Milwaukee Brewers will play 10 straight road games against their National League Central opponents, starting tonight at Cincinnati. Starter Yovani Gallardo says it will give the Crew a chance to make up some ground, after getting swept for four games at home by division-leading Saint Louis last weekend. The right-hander Gallardo will start tonight’s contest against Reds’ rookie left-hander Tony Cingrani.

Cincy is second in the N-L Central, three games behind the Cardinals. Pittsburgh is third at three-and-a-half back, and the Crew is five-and-a-half back in fourth place. Milwaukee will see the Reds for the first time in 2013.

Joey Votto has only failed to reach base in one game this season – that being on Wednesday, when Cincinnati lost to Atlanta by five runs. Outfielder Jay Bruce had 34 homers last year, but he’s only got two so far this year. His latest came on Wednesday against the Braves.

Carlos Gomez is the hot hitter for the Brewers, batting .491 during his current 14-game hitting streak.
