ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - The jury is now deliberating in the trial of Jeffrey Trevino.
Closing arguments were given Tuesday morning. Eight men and four women began deliberating early in the afternoon. They were unable to reach a verdict by 9-o’clock last night, so they were taken to a secure hotel for the night. Ramsey County Minnesota deputies will bring them back to the courthouse to continue their deliberations at 9-o’clock Wednesday morning. The jury will have to decide if Jeffrey Trevino is guilty or not guilty of second degree murder. There are two nearly identical charges, one with and one without intent to kill.
Both the Steger and Trevino families sat through the entire trial, and now they await the jury’s decision. The Steger family is anxious to bring the trial to a close so they can bring Kira Steger’s body back to Wisconsin for a proper memorial service.
