STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - Stevens Point's community development authority wants to build a new parking lot downtown.
The committee awarded the bid to Advance Construction Monday night. Community development director Michael Ostrowski says the new lot would be in the center of downtown near the construction of the new MSTC building. "This is the property where the former mall property was located. That's since been demolished and what we're looking at is a 150 slot parking lot which would be south of the former Dunham's Sports building."
Ostrowski says the new lot will fix the issue of cramped parking downtown. "This happens to move parking down to the center, allowing businesses to use that lot and put parking in the appropriate location."
Total cost for the project is around $650,000. Ostrowski says he'd like to see the work begin soon.
