STRATFORD, Wis. (WSAU) - The man accused of duct taping his dog and posting the picture on Facebook will be in court Thursday. 45-year-old David Butler of Stratford has an initial appearance scheduled for 2:15 p.m. Thursday in Marathon County Circuit Court before Judge Greg Huber.

Butler told police he let the dog out into his yard the evening of July 27, and that someone took the dog. Paco the dog was found wrapped in blue duct tape the next morning. Stratford police investigated, and found that Butler was the one who taped the dog and posted the picture online. He admitted it to police August 9th.

Charges of mistreating an animal and obstructing an officer have been filed against Butler. If found guilty, he could get up to eighteen months in jail and $20,000 in fines.
