PITTSVILLE, Wis. (WSAU) -- Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Secretary got a first-hand look at two high tech training programs in central Wisconsin Wednesday.
Secretary Reggie Newson was at Pittsville and the Marshfield campus of Mid-State Technical College.
Newson was able to see Mid-State’s stainless steel welding lab and tour Innovative Machine Specialists, the area manufacturer that helped MSTC develop the Stainless Steel Welding certificate program.
In Pittsville, Newson saw their Career and Technical Education Academy, which helps all high school juniors and seniors with soft skills development, financial literacy, and career observation. The program works with local businesses using job shadowing and internships to show career possibilities in accounting, chiropractic care, dentistry, physical therapy, agriculture, and food processing among other fields.
