Froehlich found guilty in baseball bat beating death

by

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Wausau man accused of beating another man to death with a baseball bat was found guilty in a plea agreement Friday.

20-year-old Zachary Froehlich pled no contest to first degree reckless homicide for the death of 49-year-old Kerby Kniess two years ago in Kniess’ garage. As part of the deal, twelve other counts were dismissed but will be considered at sentencing.

Prosecutors are recommending 40 years in prison for Froehlich. He will be sentenced by Judge Jill Falstad November 4th in Marathon County court.

22-year-old Warren Krohn of Wausau was also charged with homicide for helping Froehlich kill Kniess back in June of 2012. Krohn is being tried separately for the crime.
