Badgers Return To Top 25

MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) After a week out, the Wisconsin men's basketball team returned to the A-P Top-25 Monday.  The Badgers are 21st in this week's media poll, after their two-point upset of Number-nine Michigan State Sunday.

Despite the loss, Tom Izzo's Spartans held steady in the ninth spot.  Wisconsin also remains in the U-S-A Today coaches poll, up three places from a week ago at Number-21.

Wisconsin is 19-and-5 overall and 6-and-5 in the Big Ten Conference.  The Badgers' next game is on Thursday night at home against Minnesota.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin reserve Nigel Hayes was named today as the Big Ten's Freshman-of-the-Week.  He scored 14 points in each of his last two games, including yesterday's big win over Michigan State.  Hayes made a combined 8-of-12 shots from the floor.  He's averaging 15 points in each of his last three contests.

Wisconsin is 11th in the new R-P-I Rankings, which help determine the seeds for the N-C-A-A Tournament.  U-W Green Bay is 79th, Marquette 83rd, and Milwaukee is 143rd.
