RED CEDAR, WI (WTAQ) - A drug suspect was shot and killed early Wednesday, by an officer executing a search warrant in western Wisconsin.
It happened about 1:45 a.m. after Dunn County sheriff's deputies, a tactical team from Eau Claire, and the west central regional drug task force raided a home near Menomonie.
Sheriff Dennis Smith said they were at a house in the Dunn County town of Red Cedar when a confrontation took place, and one of the officers shot the suspect.
Smith said the involved officers have been put on administrative leave, pending an investigation. He did not say which agency the shooter was from.
The state Justice Department has been called in to head the investigation.
