MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Two Milwaukee Brewers have filed for salary arbitration. But the team hopes to finalize new contracts by Friday, when they're scheduled to exchange one-year salary proposals with Marco Estrada and Juan Francisco.
It's a relatively quiet year on the arbitration front for the Brewers. A total of 147 Major League players have filed for arbitration -- including last year's Cy Young winners Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer. Most players agree on new deals before their arbitration hearings.
Only two Brewers have gone all the way with their proceedings since 1998. In 2012, reliever Jose Veras lost his case but still made two-million dollars that year. In 2010, Corey Hart won his arbitration and made four-point-eight million.
