WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) --The Wausau Community Warming Center for the homeless now has a new facility, and now they need a new coordinator. Diane Borchardt had been the coordinator for the project since it began nearly a year ago in a downtown Wausau church. She is not commenting on why she resigned.
Catholic Charities of the Diocese of La Crosse has begun searching for a new permanent coordinator. They are still taking applications for the post. Deacon and former Wausau Police Captain Bryan Hilts is serving as the interim coordinator of the shelter.
The new location at 540 South Third Avenue shelters up to 20 homeless people each night during the winter season.
