UPDATE: Two children hospitalized after lake accident

UPDATE:  Department of Natural Resources wardens say the 75 foot tow rope used to pull the tube behind the boat broke, which caused the tube to change direction and strike the pontoon boat. There were no regulations violated, and no citations issued.  There was also no use of alcohol by anyone on the boats.   Both children have non-life threatening injuries.  Wardens say the boy has a concussion, and was knocked unconsious by the impact.  He was face down in the water for a short time.

MANITOWISH WATERS, Wis. (WSAU) -- Two children were injured after a collision on a northern Wisconsin lake.

A boat was pulling a tube on Little Star Lake with an 11-year-old and 12-year-old brother and sister from Arlington Heights, Illinois. The tube with the children slammed into the side of a pontoon boat.

Both children were taken to Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff for treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.

The crash happened at around 2:30 in the afternoon. Manitowish Waters Fire and Ambulance crews assisted DNR wardens and Vilas County deputies at the scene.

They say everyone involved was part of the same family.

The incident remains under investigation.
