MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - About two-thirds of Wisconsin's 99 state Assembly seats will have contests this fall -- and almost half the contested races will have primaries in August.
That's according to candidate filings made by Monday's deadline.
They show that 18 districts will have Republican primaries in August, and 11 will have Democratic primaries.
In the Senate, all but two of the 17 races up this fall have contests. There are four Democratic primaries, and three GOP primaries.
The nominating petitions won't be finalized until next week, when the Government Accountability Board determines if they have enough valid signatures.
No matter what happens, we'll see lots of new faces in the Legislature. 22 incumbent representatives are leaving their current posts after this year -- along with seven senators.
