Hammoc makes initial appearance on bar shooting charges

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Wausau man accused of shooting another person during a bar fight in Rothschild is now back in Wausau and facing charges.

27-year-old Alex Hammoc made his initial appearance in Marathon County court this afternoon, and has been charged with first degree recklessly endangering safety, substantial battery, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and intentionally pointing a firearm at a person.

Court records show that Hammoc taunted his victim during an argument August 3rd before firing a silver colored semi automatic pistol. The report says Hammoc also pointed the weapon at another person before pointing at the shooting victim.

When the victim charged towards Hammoc, the bouncer had to break them up. It was then that Hammoc allegedly fired the pistol from about five feet away striking the man’s thigh.

Hammoc is now in the Marathon County jail and being held on a $250,000 cash bond. He'll be back in court September 10 for a preliminary hearing.
