WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) -- The mother of a woman who died in the Wood County jail of an apparent suicide is suing the jail for wrongful death.

The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune reports that Lisa Sherfinski is asking for up to $350,000, and filed the paperwork for the case on Friday. Her daughter, Casey Teskoski, was placed on suicide watch after she was booked into the jail on $10,000 bond on December 22nd last year. A corrections officer later found Teskoski hanging in a shower.

She was rushed to Aspirus Riverview then flown on to UW Hospital in Madison before she died a week later.

Sherfinski previously filed a claim against the county last April, that was thrown out this summer.

Sherfinski's case alleges that the jail did not fulfill their duties in preventing the suicide. Officials from Wood County have not commented.
