Speed, alcohol likely causes of Wood County crash

TOWN OF WOOD, WI (WSAU-WDLB)  Two Wood County men were injured in a Thursday night car crash. It occurred just before 6pm on Lincoln Road just west of Elm Road in the town of Wood.

A 36-year-old Nekoosa man and his passenger, a 30-year-old Nekoosa man, were the only ones involved in the one-vehicle accident. One was ejected from the vehicle, but Wood County sheriff's deputies did not say which one. Both were transported to the Marshfield Medical Center. The driver was airlifted by LifeLink Three helicopter; the passenger by Wisconsin Rapids ambulance.

Their names and conditions have not been released.

Investigators say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
