RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- One person is dead and another injured following a crash involving multiple vehicles in a Rib Mountain retail center.
It happened at around 1:45 Sunday afternoon when crews were called to the parking lot between Olive Garden and Kohl's on Rib Mountain Drive. Witnesses told WAOW TV that they saw a maroon car traveling at a high rate of speed through the parking lot just before the crash, which initally sent two people to the hospital.
Marathon County Sheriff Lieutenant Mark Wagers tells WAOW TV that the investigation will take some time. “At this point we’re not exactly sure how or why it started or where exactly it came from and so it’s going to take some time, right now we are canvassing the area talking to witnesses and getting witness statements and continuing on with the investigation.”
Wagers later confirmed that one person had died from their injuries. The crash scene remained blocked off for several hours after the incident as crews investigated.
As of Sunday evening the names of those involved had not been released.
