MADISON, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) Governor Tony Evers says that state environmental officials will review Foxconn's air-quality permits issued last year. Evers told reporters Tuesday that he discussed the topic with Foxconn officials, but they weren't concerned.

“Clearly one area that the people of Wisconsin are concerned about is air quality,” Evers said. During the campaign, Evers said scientists told him a flawed process was used to issue the permits. Evers said,“We need to do a very thorough overview of what that proposal was and how it was responded to before we can make any decisions.”

A timeline for the review process hasn’t been announced. Evers indicated that the review was in the early stages.

Foxconn hinted last week that their new facility in Kenosha County may be used more as a research and development facility than a liquid crystal display manufacturing plant. After a call with President Trump a few days later, Foxconn said the LCD proposal was back on. Foxconn released a statement Tuesday saying they’re committed to being a responsible corporate citizen.
