MILWAUKEE, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) - Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes is daring Foxconn to create jobs in Wisconsin. Barnes made the comment Thursday while speaking at the Milwaukee Press Club, noting that Foxconn is known for not keeping its promises. He said, “Foxconn has to prove, not just to us but to the people of Wisconsin, that they are going to do what they said they are going to do.”

Foxconn needs to invest $10-billion and create 13,000 jobs or they won’t qualify for all of the tax credits and incentives that were promised to them under the administration of former Governor Scott Walker.

“Foxconn has not traditionally lived up to its promises,” Barnes said. “I dare Foxconn to do the correct thing… I dare them to create jobs.”

Foxconn said earlier this month that their campus in Racine County might be more of a research and development site instead of manufacturing liquid crystal displays. The company backtracked after receiving a phone call from Donald Trump last week.

Barnes opposed the deal that brought Foxconn to Wisconsin while campaigning in 2018. Governor Tony Evers told Foxconn earlier this month that he’s asked the DNR to review the company’s air and water permits.
