CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) Leinenkugel's is adding its first new brewmaster in nearly 25 years.
John Hensley is the eleventh brewmaster in the family brand's more than 150 year history. The 38-year-old takes over for John Buhrow, who is retiring. Buhrow had been with Leinenkugel’s for 44 years, 23 as brewmaster.
Hensley has 16 years experience with Miller Brewing Company and MillerCoors. He’s worked at the Leinenkugel’s brewery as assistant brewmaster since 2012.
Brewmaster is the top position at the brewery, ensuring quality from start to finish of the beer-making process. The Chippewa Falls brewery is the sole producer of many of Leinenkugel’s specialty brands: Leinenkugel’s Original, Leinenkugel’s Creamy Dark, Leinenkugel’s Red Lager and Leinenkugel’s Light. Some of Leinenkugel’s top-selling brands like Summer Shandy are brewed at other facilities owned by parent-company MillerCoors.
