PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI (WSAU) -- Vice President Mike Pence, who canceled a trip to Wisconsin last week, will return to the state today, but there have been some changes to the schedule..
The Vice President is apparently not coming to Marinette as planned.
The White House confirms Pence has canceled his visit to Marinette Marine. He will reschedule for a later date.
But today's visit included a stop at Uline in Pleasant Prairie is still on.
Pence will speak in support of trade agreements between the United States, Canada, and Mexico that were negotiated earlier this year. Those agreements need to be approved in the U.S. Senate.
While in Green Bay Tuesday, Governor Tony Evers says he hopes the talks are worthwhile and make a difference.
"The sooner we get to a place in the State of Wisconsin that we have our leadership in Washington decide not to develop trade negotiations via Twitter, we will be better off."
Pence's schedule changed because of a last-minute trip to Turkey with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. A cease-fire was announced for northern Syria shortly after that meeting. Many Kurdish fighters in the area say the agreement has not held.
"The approach to it is so unstable that the result of it is those business owners who may need to have a solid answer are continually responding to Tweets and that is not good for anybody," according to Governor Evers.
Pence was scheduled to visit the Uline facilities in Pleasant Prairie.
