MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) -- Dozens of workers in Harley-Davidson's General Merchandise division were blindsided with pink slips on Wednesday.

Multiple reports out of Milwaukee indicate that an unspecified number of workers were let go as part of a restructuring move aimed at "capitalizing on growth opportunities," according to a spokesperson for the company. They also declined to provide the exact number of employees who were let go.

Many of the laid-off workers declined to comment. The company provided no further information.

BizTimes of Milwaukee reports that H-D's general merchandise sales have steadily dipped each year since 2016, from $284.6 million to $242 million in 2018. In the first six months of 2019, the company moved $120.1 million in general merchandise.
