STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) -- A casual dining restaurant in Stevens Point unexpectedly closed over the weekend.
The Applebee's located along Highway 10 east shuttered on Saturday, according to WAOW TV. Employees of the Stevens Point location were offered jobs at other restaurants in the area, according to a company spokesperson.
No specific reason for the closure was given, with the spokesperson saying they can happen for a variety of reasons. “Because a restaurant is located in a lapsed trade area – where once vibrant retail, residential and traffic characteristics are no longer present – or as a result of leases expiring, among other reasons.”
Applebee's has other locations in Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, and Wausau.
