WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- In advance of the snowstorm rolling through Friday night, several Central Wisconsin communities have declared snow emergencies.

As of 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Wausau, Marshfield, Weston and Schofield have all declared snow emergencies. Those snow emergencies will begin Friday night starting anywhere from between 6 p.m. in Marshfield to 11 p.m. in Wausau.

Most of the snow emergencies will last 24 hours into Saturday night. But if you live in the Village of Weston or the City of Schofield, your snow emergency will be in effect until 6 a.m. on Sunday, January 19th.

Snow emergencies generally prohibit cars from being parked out on the street during the duration of the emergency. This is to let snowplows be able to plow the entire road without having to deal with any obstructions.

Cars left on the street during snow emergencies could face penalties anywhere from being ticketed with fines or having their car towed away.
