MADISON, WI (WSAU) -- Planned upgrades to Camp Randall Stadium in Madison have been put on hold.
Athletics Director Barry Alvarez says the project will now be completed in time for the 2022 football season. It calls for expanded premium seating areas in the south end zone including on-field club boxes and an expanded concourse.
The upgrade was originally scheduled to begin following the 2020 season with the goal of being ready by opening day 2021 against Penn State on September 4th.
The Athletics Department says over 75% of the suites have already been leased.
A press release from the university did not specify if the delay was due to COVID-19, but Alvarez says "we are obviously operating in a time of great uncertainty. Given our construction timeline and the timing around when decisions had to be made, we felt it was best to be prudent and delay the project for a bit."
