RIPON, WI (WTAQ) — Vice President Mike Pence visited Ripon, the birthplace of the Republican Party, on Friday, and delivered a speech a Ripon College touting the Trump Administration’s record.

“President Trump did keep every promise that he made to the people of Wisconsin and to the United States” Pence said during the speech. “We’re rebuilding our military, we cut taxes across the board, we rolled back regulations.”

He also touted school choice, immigration, and progress on the border wall. Plenty of time was dedicated to attacking former Vice President and Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden.

“President Trump set our nation on a path to freedom and opportunity,” Pence said. “Joe Biden would set America on a path of socialism and decline.”

Pence tied Biden’s position to former candidate and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, a self-described ‘Democratic Socialist’, referring to Biden’s policies as the “Biden-Sanders Agenda” several times during the speech.

“The hard truth is you won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America,” said Pence. “The radical left’s experiment in defunding the police is failing families and cities across the country.”

Biden has expressed support for reducing funding for police departments during a July 8th interview published by NowThis News.

The Republican party was founded in Ripon, Wisconsin back in March of 1854.

Pence also toured a farm in Onalaska and participated in a roundtable discussion on the impacts of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement during his trip as well.
