MADISON, WI (WSAU) -- A lawsuit by several Wisconsin residents challenging local Coronavirus orders has been dismissed on a technicality by a federal judge.
District Judge William Griesbach ruled on Tuesday that the more than two dozen complaints were not properly joined into one for the case, meaning it is dismissed.
All of the complaints challenge various stay-at-home orders and other limits imposed by city and county health departments during the COVID-19 outbreak. Those lawsuits claimed that the local orders violated constitutionally-protected rights.
The plaintiffs will be allowed to re-file their case at a later date.
Wisconsin's statewide Safer at Home order was struck down by the state Supreme Court in May. Since then many counties and cities have tried to enact their own plans to curb the spread of COVID-19.
