Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, wrote "Big Me" while drumming for Nirvana. Kurt Cobain knew Grohl was interested in projects outside of Nirvana and he was fine with it.
"Big Me" was the fourth single released by Foo Fighters off their self-titled debut album. It was released in the Spring of 1996. It charted at #18 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks, #3 on the Alternative Songs, #23 on Adult Top 40, #11 Mainstream Top 40, and #13 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Moog Cookbook covered this song for the "Monkey Wrench" video. Their version plays in the elevator. They included their cover of the song on their album "Bartell."
The video is a parody of a Mentos commercial. It won the 1996 MTV Video Music Award for Best Group Video. Unfortunately, for the band the success of the video made a mark on the audience and they often threw Mentos at the Foos when they performed "Big Me" in concert.
