Deftones released "Be Quiet And Drive (Far Away)" in 1998 as the second single off their second album album
Around the Fur
. It was their first single to chart in the U.S. reaching #29 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
The song is about wanting to bail on a small town where nothing ever happens. When you finally find someone to leave with you just want them to be quiet and drive so you can enjoy the moment of leaving or think. It can also be applied to running away from bad decisions and you just want to get away from your problems and you need quiet so you can think about your life.
