The Netflix docuseries, Making a Murderer, first became a topic of worldwide discussion in 2015. The 10 episode series covered the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin and the convictions of Steven Avery and his Nephew Brendan Dassey. According to the series, they are wrongful convictions. With split public opinion on the convictions and questions on how the case was handled, the series thrived.
Since then, creators Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos have been working on part 2. The new series will show the men's fight for justice and will feature both men's post-conviction lawyers. The show's teaser features this unidentified voiceover, "Once somebody is convicted, they have to move mountains to get out of prison." The next voice sounds like Steven Avery, "When you're fighting for your innocence and you need the truth out, it takes time."
No matter what side you're on, the binge-watching begins October 19th on Netflix.
