SCARY TERRY'S SATURDAY NIGHTMARE

On February 11th, 2012, Whitney Houston passed away.  Hours after she was pronounced dead, Sony Records jacked up the price of her music on I-Tunes to cash in.

Contrast that clear-cut example of greed with this case.

On November 3rd, 2011, GWAR guitarist Corey Smoot passed away leaving behind a wife and unborn child. Before he died, Smoot had just put the finishing touches on the frist album from his solo project, The Corey Smoot Experiment.

On June 5th, Metal Blade Records will release that album with ALL of the proceeds going to Smoot's family.  Not a percentage.  ALL of the money goes to Smoot's wife and kid.

As an added bonus, the album itself is friggin' awesome.  Lots of killer tunes.  Here's a sample:

In an era where folks like to toss around the term "greedy record labels", Metal Blade is proving that their hearts are absolutely in the right place.

Be Metal,

SCARY TERRY'S SATURDAY NIGHTMARE playlist for 4/30/12 Posted April 30, 2012 by Terry Stevens

SCARY TERRY'S SATURDAY NIGHTMARE

April showers bring May Raining Blood.

Thanks again for listening this past Saturday night!  It's your support that keeps this show on the air.

This week, I made it a point to update our library a bit with a few artists that I've been getting lots of requests for, namely Psychostick and Otep.  You'll be hearing them in the rotation a bit more often.

And now some backstory.

The Nightmare's original library started with a database of songs from one of our sister stations in Michigan.  Then I grabbed a bunch of stuff from my personal collection to round out the whole mess.  Since then, I've been slowly adding recently purchased stuff from my collection (yes I BUY music) and new stuff that the record labels, promoters and occasional local bands send my way.

Keep listening, telling your friends to listen and clicking that "Like" button on the Official Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare Facebook Page, and we'll keep on keeping metal on in Central Wisconsin and world wide via our website stream.

I'm also on Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest.

In case you were looking for a list of what we played so you can go LEGALLY download it, here you go.  Please don't steal music from the internet.  $.049, $0.99, or $1.29 isn't too much to ask for a song.  Thanks.

Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare playlist for 4/28/12

HOUR ONE

Megadeth - "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due"

Psychostick - "Welcome to the Show"  (If you dig bands with a humorous bent like Scatterbrain or Mucky Pup, you would be well advised to check out Psychostick.)

Deftones - "7 Words"

Slayer - "Hell Awaits"

Brand New Sin - "The Lord Came Down"  (These guys straddle the line between hard rock and metal.  If that's your bag, you'll dig their new album.)

Morbid Angel - "Fall From Grace"

Anthrax - "Among the Living"

At The Skylines - "Turbulence"  (Their record label, Roadrunner, just went through a pretty heavy downsizing of staff.  Here's hoping those folks bounce back soon.  Nickelback and their ilk aside, Roadrunner has been the home of some of metal's best acts over the years; acts discovered and promoted by some of the folks who are on the street looking for work today.)

Chemlab - "Suicide Jag"

Avenged Sevenfold - "Bat Country"

GWAR - "Maggots"

Overkill - "Wish You Were Dead"  (From their latest album, The Electric Age, available now.)

Pantera - "Hollow"

HOUR TWO

Static-X - "I'm With Stupid"  (The samples in this song were lifted from the film "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama".  And now I know what you'll be queuing up on Netflix next.)

Meshuggah - "The Demon's Name Is Surveillance"  (From their latest album, Koloss.)

Suicidal Tendencies - "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow..."

KMFDM - "A Drug Against War"

Mastodon - "Dry Bone Valley"

Obituary - "Find The Arise"

Otep - "Smash The Control Machine"  (Or OTEP, or Ot3p if you prefer.)

Horisont - "Second Assault"  (They have the production values of 70's rock, with modern day songwriting sensibilities.  Worth further investigation if you're in to that sort of thing.)

Prong - "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck"

Saxon - "Denim and Leather"

Death - "Suicide Machine"

Cancer Bats - "Road Sick"  (Loud, fast and raw = Cancer Bat's latest album, Dead Set on Living.)

Clutch - "A Shotgun Named Marcus"

Aborted - "Global Flatline"  (Their lead singer, "Svencho", is on X-Box Live.  You can get his gamertag HERE.)

HOUR THREE

Megadeth - "Mechanix"

Emmure - "Protoman"

Children of Bodom - "Northern Comfort"

Slayer - "Point"

Lamb of God - "Desolation"

Iron Maiden - "Heaven Can Wait"  (See them at Rock Fest in Cadott this summer.  Find out how to win tickets HERE.  Also, you can help a local mom win tickets HERE.)

Job for  a Cowboy - "Nourishment Through Bloodshed"

Sepultura - "Dead Embryonic Cells"

Avatar - "Torn Apart"  (The video for this song uses a pretty cool effect throughout.)

Pantera - "Drag the Waters"  (Is it just me, or is the chorus riff for this song just a slowed down version of the chorus riff for "Mouth for War"?)

Dragonforce - "Seasons"  (Their new album also features an acoustic version of this song.)

Overkill - "Playing With Spiders/SkullKrusher"

Once again, thanks for listening!  We'll do it again next Saturday, 3 hours of non-stop metal from 9pm to Midnight on Rock 94.7, 102.9 and online!

Scary Terry's Saturday Nightmare playlist for 4/21/12

HOUR ONE

White Zombie - "Electric Head Pt. 1"

Pantera - "P!$$"  (The title of this song isn't FCC friendly.  Cuz, you know, people might die if they heard the word on their air?  Arbitrary and silly, the FFC is.)

Deftones - "Back to School"  (Meanwhile, in concert news, it looks like Deftones and...)

System of a Down - "Prison Song"  (...System of a Down may be touring together.  Please, pretty please, let this be booked within driving distance of us.)

Overkill - "Elimination"

Sevendust - "Black"  (They'll be at Rock Fest in Cadott, WI this summer.  You will be too with free tickets if you stick with us.)

7 Horns 7 Eyes - "Vindicator"  (New tune from their debut full-length album, Throes of Absolution, due out 4/24/12.  7H7E guitarist Aaron Smith discusses the album and much more in this 13 Questions Interview.)

Slayer - "God Send Death"

Ministry - "Just One Fix"

7 Horns 7 Eyes - "Phumis:  The Falsehood of Affliction"  (You know, the one question I forgot to ask Aaron of 7H7E in this interview was, "What the hell is a Phumis?"  Maybe next time.)

Slayer - "Altar of Sacrifice"

Deicide - "Dead By Dawn"

Brand New Sin - "The Lord Came Down"  (These guys have a bit of a Corrosion of Conformity vibe going on.  If you wish that metal bands would do more acoustic numbers on their albums, you might like their new one.)

Opeth - "The Grand Conjouration"  (While I enjoyed Opeth's Heritage, it didn't exactly have much that I could play on this show.  Luckily...)
