Terry's 3-some @ 3 - T3@3 for Short

Every weekday at 3pm, I play 3 songs in a row by a single band, or based on a single theme.

I believe that time is wasted in seconds, not hours.

I'm always looking for ways to do things more efficiently.

That's why I like abbreviations.

Let's face it.  If you get rescued faster by sending SOS versus typing out "Save Our Spaceship", you're going to go with the abbreviation.

Seconds matter.

Musicians have taken advantage of abbreviations for years.  Here are 3 examples.

SONG 1:  System of a Down "B.Y.O.B."

Normally, B.Y.O.B. stands for "Bring Your Own Booze" (Although in some cases, that "Booze" gets swapped out for "Beer" or "Beverage" depending on the occasion).

S.O.A.D.'s "B.Y.O.B." stands for "Bring Your Own Bomb".  Written in protest to the Iraq War, it asks a question very much worth asking.

Why don't presidents fight the war?

Why do they always send the poor?

Follow up question.  Why do the poor vote for that sort of thing?

SONG 2:  The Glorious Sons "S.O.S."

Normally S.O.S. stands for "Save Our Ship".

In the case of The Glorious Sons it stands for "Sawed Off Shotgun".

This song was released in October of 2017 in a society where stories of gun violence are all over the headlines.  T.G.S.'s record label were a bit wary about the song, but the band released the video in response to clear things up a bit.

Well put.

SONG 3:  AC/DC "T.N.T."

T.N.T. stands for TriNitroTolunene.

In AC/DC's "T.N.T.", it...stands for pretty much the same thing, the explosive being used as a metaphor for this dude who will blow up and wreck you if you try to fight him.

So, uh, great party song?
