WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -- Officials with the Wausau School District have confirmed that director of Human Resources and Employee Relations Michael Schwei was involved in a recent prostitution sting set up by the Rothschild Police Department.

District Communications Director Amy Arlen said in an email to WSAU News they have confirmed that Schwei was cited last weekend for soliciting a prostitute after responding to a fake ad posted by the department online.

It's unclear what, if any, punishment Schwei will face. The 62-year-old served as the Wausau School District's interim Superintendent during the 2017-'18 school year before current Superintendent Keith Hilts was hired. Arlen added that the investigation into the matter remains open, and no additional comments will be provided at this time.

Officials with the Rothschild Police Department arrested at least seven other individuals as a result of the sting operation. Soliciting a prostitute in the Village of Rothschild carries a civil fine of just under $2,000. Detective Brad Johnson, who is handling the case for the Department, said each department handles the situation differently and criminal charges are only filed if the situation warrants them.
